Raymond A. Rusk was born August 18, 1882 in Etna Township, Licking County, Ohio, son of Charles C. and Edith E. Seiler Rusk. He married Elizabeth Amelia "Bess" John in Chicago, Illinois on February 8, 1915. Bess was born August 8, 1884 In 1912, Rusk worked for C.A.Thomas & Co. (real estate, builders and loans). In 1912 he was a partner in De Tamble Sales Company (Ohio distributors for De Tamble autos, auto supplies and repairs). A short lived enterprise as De Tamble went bankrupt in 1913. In 1915, Rusk was a contractor and in 1925 owned the R.E. Rusk Company (real estate, builders, farms and loans). He was later an incorporator of Bexley Homes, Inc. Rusk built the house at 144-146 17th Street in 1920 for Lizzie M. Pugh of 1847 Franklin Avenue ($10,000). Raymond's 1918 Draft Registration indicated that he was very hard of hearing. Bess died December 3, 1951. Raymond died in Bexley on December 11, 1972. They are buried at Pataskala Cemetery. |
