Jacob Schwab was born November 16, 1857 in Ohio, son of Conrad Andrew and Catherine Caroline Schenk Schwab. 
He married Mary Antoinette Jolly. Mary was born June 4, 1853 in (Zanesville,) Ohio, daughter of Samuel and Lydia Weizer Jolly.


Mary was sister to Maggie Jolly

Jacob's nephew, his sister Mary's son, Charles Roederer and his two daughters lived with the Schwabs starting in about 1912.

Jacob was employed at the city water works for 40 years, retiring in January 1938.

At his death, Jacob also owned lot 65 and part of 66 of Smith's Woodland Park Addition (1557 or 1563 Greenway aka 1555 Mt Vernon, Esther and Marie sold in 1948 he purchased 1905 deed 405/586 from Levi Smith) . Esther and Marie each inherited half of this and that. Recorded September 7, 1939. 

Mary and Jacob died at the house. Mary on March 2, 1923. Jacob died December 25, 1938. Jacob had been hit by a car on October 12, 1938 at the north end of the Sandusky Street bridge and suffered a broken right leg and head injury.The Schwabs are buried at Greenlawn Cemetery.

The (Massillon) Evening Independent, January 19, 1939, SUICIDE VERDICT COLUMBUS, Jan. 19 Coroner Edward E. Smith gave a verdict of suicide today in the fatal shooting of Charles C. Roederer, 55, found dead at his home. 

Charles Christian Roederer was born February 20, 1883 in Columbus, son of Christian "Chris" and Minnie Schwab Roederer. He married Minnie Anna Thieman in Columbus on April 27, 1904. Minnie was born June 21, 1883 in Columbus, daughter of William and Mary Engelhard Thieman. They had three daughters, Marie Edna (March 11, 1905 - September 11, 1987), Esther Minnie (February 18, 1908 - July 2, 1973), Helen Bertha (February 13, 1907 - March 5, 1907).

Charles and Minnie lived with Charles' parents on (then rural) Jackson Pike near Mound Street. Minnie died there of peritonitis on January 19, 1910.

In 1910, Charles was a laborer at a brewery. In 1912 he was a bottler. 

In 1918, Charles was a machinist for the Pennsylvania Railroad. 

Charles committed suicide at the house on January 18, 1939 by shooting himself in the head. January 19 would have been the 29th anniversary of his wife's death, and was less than a month after Jacob Schwab had died.  

12/25/38 Marie lived 2233 Willamot Ave. 
Esther lived at house then?. Esther was a laundress. 

Two days after her father's death, on January 21, 1939, Esther and George C. Laver applied for a marriage license. They married in Franklin County on January 25, 1939.

The Roederers are buried at Greenlawn Cemetery.
