1940 William Geminden lived here ran shoe repair shop at 339 Taylor Ave. 

Geminden may have been the 1924 Socialist Labor candidate for Ohio Treasurer of State. 

William Geminden was born May 13, 1887 in Columbus, son of Christian and Margaret Weller Geminden. He married Ethyl Phoebe Dye in Franklin County on August 17, 1926. Ethyl was born about 1895 in Noble County, Ohio, daughter of Hiram E. and Harriet Sears Dye. They had XXXX children: William J. (December 10, 1928 - January 23, 1997), Joseph Dye (July 17, 1932 - January 28, 1950).

About 1917 to 1920, Geminden lived with his parents in East Linden. He was working as a shoemaker for Philip Sussmer. In 1924 the Gemindens lived at 2121 Minnesota Avenue, and William worked at a shoe repair shop at 1546 North High Street. In 1926 the Gemindens lived at 1995 Minnesota Avenue, and William was working as a baggageman. William probably bought the shoe repair shop at 339 Taylor Avenue about 1928 from Michael A. Graney. 

In 1929 the William and Ethyl lived at 1537 Mt. Vernon Avenue, Apt 1. William had his own shoe repair shop at 339 Taylor Avenue. By 1934 they have moved to 1651 Greenway Avenue. 

Joseph died while a passenger in a stolen car that collided with a concrete abutment.  

Geminden died August 11, 1976. He is buried at Greenlawn Cemetery. Ethyl died May 18, 1990. 



About 1918, G.H Jones was a shoemaker with a shop here, taken over by 1922 by C.H. Steelman, followed by M.A. Graney about 1926. 

From about 1938 to 1956, William Geminden ran the shoe repair business here.

Geminden was originally from Columbus, but in 1920 was living in Lorain, Ohio. He moved back to Columbus about 1926 and married that same year. In 1930 the Gemindens lived at 1537 Mt.Vernon Avenue. In 1940 the Gemindens lived at 1651 Greenway Avenue. Geminden died in 1976.
